The True Cost of Abortion

  • There is an 81% increase of mental health problems after abortion.
  • Each year at least 50,000 women will experience serious emotional and mental health issues after abortion.
  • After-abortion trauma is an emotional and psychological impact sometimes experienced by women after an abortion. Symptoms are similar to those of post-traumatic stress disorder.
  • There are increased rates of substance abuse and suicide among women who have experienced an abortion.

Physical Risks

  • One in ten women who undergo an abortion experience immediate complications after the abortion, 20% of which are life threatening.
  • Abortion can cause physical damage to a woman's reproductive system resulting in infertility.
  • Chemical abortions (abortion pill) are on the rise. In 2020, 54% of all abortions were done using the abortion pill. In 2019, that number was 40%. By 2022, it is predicted to account for 70% of abortions.
  • There has been a 500% increase in emergency room visits due to chemical abortions.
  • Chemical abortions have led to the death of dozens of women. The FDA has documented thousands of complications related to chemical abortion.

One in four women will have at least one abortion by the age of 45.
70% of women who have an abortion identify their religious preference as Christian.
50% of women report they actively attended church once or twice a month at the time when their abortion was performed.
75% of women report no one in their church knows about their abortion.
